KIHI (Korea Institute of Halal Industry) held a ceremony to celebrate its 10th anniversary. KIHI, a leading halal industry research institute in Korea, was officially launched by receiving permission to establish an incorporated institute from the Export Promotion Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on April 7, 2014 and completing registration of establishment on April 18, 2014.
On May 8, 2024, 10 years after its establishment, KIHI held a ceremony commemorating its 10th anniversary at the Pilwon Conference Room of the Center Point Building in Gwanghwamun with key figures from the domestic halal industry. The event included a welcoming speech by Director Emeritus Jang Geon, a congratulatory speech by Advisor Hamid Choi (Professor Emeritus at Myongji University, inaugural Korea Association of Halal Industry Studies: KAHIS), a presentation on the topic “KIHI’s 10-year journey and future direction” by Director Noh Jangsuh, and an introduction to advisor Haji Saifol Bahli, recipient of merit award. It ended with a group photo.
Director Noh Jangsuh looked back on the achievements KIHI has made over the past 10 years since its founding in 2014, and announced that KIHI will assume the role of a think tank that will lead the new evolution of Korea's halal ecosystem.
